Najmuddin Kubra's Ta’wilat al-Najmiyya occupies an important place in the Islamic scholarly tradition and represents a significant example of Sufi tafsir. The author seeks to uncover the inner, spiritual, and philosophical meanings of the Qur’anic text while remaining within the framework of traditional interpretation. In his exegesis, particular attention is given to the figures of the prophets, who are understood as symbolic models of human spiritual development. In this context, the narrative of Prophet David acquires a multilayered character that integrates ethical and philosophical dimensions. Najmuddin Kubra presents Prophet David not only as a historical figure, but also as a ruler and prophet engaged in a continuous inner struggle. His life is interpreted as a symbolic representation of the tension between reason and the nafs. Victories over external enemies are understood as reflections of overcoming inner passions, while repentance and worship are interpreted as symbols of spiritual purification and devotion to God. The analysis of the image of Prophet David in Ta’wilat al-Najmiyya demonstrates that, in Kubra’s understanding, the path of the prophets represents a process of inner transformation, in which overcoming the self, repentance, and divine love serve as key elements of spiritual perfection. The article substantiates the significance of Kubra’s work as an important source within Islamic literature and the Sufi tradition of Qur’anic interpretation. Particular attention is devoted to the analysis of Qur’anic verses in which Prophet David is presented as a multidimensional figure combining historical, prophetic, and spiritual-symbolic dimensions.
