The article analyzes works on Islamic history written in Arabic during the early Middle Ages and their titles. Sources of the maghazi, seerah, and futuh genres are examined along with their authors and historical value. Maghazi works focus on the military campaigns of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), seerah provides a full account of the Prophet’s life, and futuh covers the expansion of the Islamic state and the history of conquered territories. The author identifies the place of these works in early medieval historiography.
