In this scientific article, the pedagogical – educational views of the exponents of the jadidism movement formed in Turkestan in the late 19th-early 20th centuries were analyzed theoretically-methodologically in the context of the development of national identity in students of today's higher education institutions. The study systematized the educational ideas of jadid thinkers such as Mahmudhaja Behbudiy, Abdullah Avloni, Abdurauf Fitrat, Munavvarqori Abdurashidkhanov, Ismailbek Gaspirali, Hamza Hakimzoda Niyoziy, Chulpan, on the basis of which the current situation of development of national identity in students was studied, criteria and levels were developed, the pedagogical model was based, and the educational significance of the process was revealed. The results obtained are of theoretical and practical importance in the teaching of national ideas, fundamentals of spirituality and Pedagogical Sciences in the higher education system.
