This article examines the work of the famous 15th-century scholar and historian Muhibbuddin Abu Hamid al-Maqdisi, titled “The Hidden Wisdom of God in Bringing the Turkic Peoples to the Lands of Egypt.” This work is an important source that justified, from religious and historical perspectives, the unparalleled services of the Turkic peoples in the defense of Islamic civilization during its time. The research analyzes the author’s theoretical views on the wisdom behind the arrival of Turkic tribes in the lands of Egypt and Syria and their assumption of state governance. Maqdisi describes the Turks as a savior force that protected the Islamic world from external threats, namely the Crusader and Mongol invasions. The article systematically explains the structural parts of the work, particularly information regarding the military prowess, courage, piety, and justice of the Turkic Mamluks. Furthermore, the socio-political significance of the ideas presented in the work regarding the superiority of the Turks over other nations is revealed. This study serves as an important scientific basis for understanding the image of Turkic peoples in medieval historiography and their role in Islamic history.
