The work of Maleho Samarkandi “Muzakkir al-Ashab” as a source on the history of the Ashtarkhanid period

The article examines the life and activities of Maleho Samarkandi, as well as the time, place, reasons for composition, language, manuscript tradition, sources, reliability of the sources, research history, translations, and reprints of his work “Muzakkir al-Ashab”. Furthermore, the study comparatively analyzes the role of these sources in the investigation of the political, economic, social, and cultural life during the period of the Ashtarkhanid dynasty, in relation to other contemporary sources. Based on the presented evidence, it is demonstrated that Maleho Samarkandi’s tazkiras constitute valuable historical sources for illuminating the political, economic, and social history of the Ashtarkhanid period, particularly during the reigns of Abdulaziz Khan and Subhan Quli Khan.
