This article discusses the concept of “Musnad”, one of the unique genres in the science of hadith, its lexical and terminological meanings, and the stages of its formation as a genre. An attempt has also been made to reveal the features that distinguish works written in the musnad genre from other collections of hadith. In addition, the study analyzes the methodological foundations of the musnad genre and the approaches of hadith scholars in this direction. At the same time, the importance of musnads in the science of preserving sanads and criticizing narrators (jarh and ta’dil) is revealed.
