This article analyzes Imam Abu Hanifa’s views on faith and his refutations of misguided sects. Based on the scholar’s works “Fiqhul akbar”, “Fiqhul absat”, “Wasiyat” and “Risala ila Uthman Batti”, the essence, pillars, and relationship of faith with action are illuminated. Also, the views of such sects as the khawarij, mu’tazilites, murji’ites, and jahmiyyah on faith are critically analyzed, and the creed of ahli sunnah wal jamaah is substantiated. It is stated with scientific evidence that faith is confirmation of the heart and confession of the tongue, while action is not an integral part of faith. Also, special attention is paid to the issues of the great sin, the faith of muqallid, the relationship between faith and Islam, the enlightenment of Allah, and the moderate and evidence-based doctrinal approach of Imam Abu Hanifa is revealed.
