This article analyzes current pedagogical issues related to educating secondary school students based on national and universal values. The article scientifically substantiates the role of folk pedagogy, customs, values, and historical heritage in developing students’ historical memory, national identity, patriotism, spiritual immunity, and cultural competencies. Furthermore, the pedagogical potential of integrative, competency-based, axiological, and activity-oriented approaches in organizing educational activities is analyzed.
