This article analyzes the philosophical, psychological, and pedagogical foundations necessary for improving the critical thinking skills of future foreign language teachers in a digital educational environment. A multifaceted theoretical and methodological model of critical thinking is formed based on the sources of classical Eastern thought, Western philosophical traditions, and modern cognitive psychology. The article substantiates the need to expand critical thinking beyond a set of general cognitive skills in the context of digital transformation and to interpret it as a comprehensive professional competence that encompasses digital-linguocultural information assessment, professional self-regulation, and dual pedagogical responsibility. As a result of a comparative analysis of fifteen scientific definitions, four priority areas are identified: skill-based, dispositional, competency-based, and integrative-digital approaches. A new definition adapted for future foreign language teachers is also proposed in the context of Uzbekistan’s digitalizing education system.
