This article scientifically analyzes the formation, historical development stages and modern institutional model of Islamic theology (İlahiyat) education in Türkiye. The purpose of the study is to reveal the mechanisms of integration of religious education with the secular state system in Türkiye. Historical-comparative analysis, institutional approach and source studies were used as the methodology. The results of the analysis show that theological education in Türkiye has been successfully transformed from the madrasa system to the university system (İlahiyat fakültesi). There is functional cooperation between the The Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı) and Universities, and academic independence has been maintained. Imam-khatib schools (Imam Hatip Okulları) are the main link in the continuous religious education system. This model is considered an effective model in the modernization of religious education.
