The article interprets the gap between public declarations of tolerance and its normative substance – the recognition of the Other as an equal bearer of dignity, voice and agency – as pseudo-tolerance in digital society. The study uses an integrative review and conceptual analysis of foundational philosophical works, empirical research published in 2021–2026, international policy documents and current Uzbek sources. Five forms of pseudo-tolerance are identified: performative, selective, paternalistic, coerced and platform-commercial. A five-criterion diagnostic framework is proposed, comprising declaration–practice congruence, symmetry of standards, the agency of the Other, openness to contestation, and alignment of institutional incentives. The analysis shows that audience-oriented self-presentation, identity-based performance, algorithmic visibility and selective moderation may preserve the language of tolerance while weakening substantive equality. For Uzbekistan, the article proposes strengthening genuine tolerance through equal rights, dialogical participation, media and information literacy, and accountable platform governance.
